1. Overview

Welcome to Dycoat. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) explain—in clear, simple language—how you may use our website (the “Website”), what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. The Website is operated by Dycoat (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By using the Website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy, and Return & Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website or buy our products.

Service Area: Our store currently serves customers in North America (USA, Canada), Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands), and Australia.

2. Use of the Website

Use the Website in a lawful and respectful way. Do not try to break the site, copy code or content without permission, post harmful files, or access anyone’s account or our systems without authorization. You must be at least 18 years old to place an order.

If you create an account, keep your password safe. You are responsible for all activity on your account. Some parts of the Website may link to other websites (e.g., social media). We are not responsible for content or policies on those sites.

3. Products: Solid Wood & Natural Variations

We specialize in solid wood furniture legs and components. We try to show accurate photos, dimensions, and wood species. However, please be aware of the following:

  • Nature of Wood: Solid wood (Oak, Walnut, Maple, Cherry) is a living material. Variations in grain pattern, mineral streaks, color tones, and texture are natural features, not defects. No two legs are exactly alike.

  • Unfinished/Raw Wood: Some items are sold as “unfinished” (sanded but raw). These are intended for you to stain, paint, or oil. They may require final preparation by the customer.

  • Screen Colors: Your screen may show wood tones slightly differently from the real product.

  • “What’s in the box”: Product photos may show a complete table or sofa for context. Unless stated otherwise, your order includes only the legs and hardware, not the furniture piece itself.

4. Ordering, Payment, Taxes (DDP), and Cancellations

When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy. We accept your order when we send an order confirmation and begin packing your items.

  • Payment: We accept the payment methods listed at checkout. We do not store full card numbers.

  • Currency: All transactions are in USD. If you are international, your bank handles the currency conversion.

  • Taxes & Duties (International – DDP): Unlike many stores, Dycoat ships Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) to Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia. This means we cover the Import Duties and VAT/GST. You will not be charged extra fees by the carrier upon delivery.

  • Cancellations: We process orders quickly (Ready-to-Ship). You may request to cancel an order within 12 hours of placement, provided it has not yet been shipped. Once a shipping label is generated, cancellation is no longer possible.

5. Shipping and Delivery

  • Method: Most furniture legs are shipped via standard couriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL) rather than heavy freight.

  • Delivery: Packages are typically delivered to your door or mailbox.

  • Inspection: When your order arrives, inspect the box immediately. If you see damage (crushed box, exposed wood), take photos before opening.

  • Reporting: If the wood inside is damaged, tell us within 72 hours so we can send a replacement.

6. Returns, Exchanges, and Refunds

Our Return & Refund Policy explains eligibility in detail. Key points for furniture legs:

  • Condition: Items must be returned in “New & Unused” condition.

    • Crucial: Legs that have been installed (screwed into furniture) or modified (painted/stained) cannot be returned.

  • Return Shipping: Unless the item is defective or we sent the wrong size, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs to our New York warehouse.

  • Refunds: Refunds are issued to the original payment method for the Product Price.

  • International Note: While we pay duties to get the item to you, these duties are non-recoverable. Therefore, we refund the value of the goods, but we cannot refund the duties/taxes paid on the original shipment.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Website—text, images, leg designs, logos—belongs to Dycoat and is protected by law. You may not copy or reuse it without written permission.

If you share photos of your finished projects (e.g., your DIY table using our legs) with us, you give Dycoat a license to share those photos on our social media or website to inspire other makers, with credit to you where practical.

8. Warranties, Safety, and Load Capacity

We want your furniture to stand strong.

  • Proper Installation: You are responsible for ensuring the legs are installed correctly and securely. Dycoat is not responsible for furniture failure caused by improper installation (e.g., using screws that are too short, weak attachment plates).

  • Weight Limits: While solid hardwood is strong, every design has limits. Please ensure the legs you choose are appropriate for the weight of your furniture piece (e.g., do not use thin tapered legs for a 500lb stone tabletop).

  • Safety: Do not allow children to climb on furniture. Always use anti-tip kits for tall cabinets.

To the extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties. Our liability is limited to the replacement of the defective Dycoat product.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Dycoat is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including damage to your floors or existing furniture) arising from the use of our products. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the product involved.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws listed below, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your region:

  • United States: Laws of the State of New York.

  • International (UK, EU, AU, CA): Your national laws and applicable consumer protection rules.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms to reflect changes in our products or services. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date above.
